Green Point Sparks New AirBnB Interest with the Move of WP Rugby to Cape Town Stadium

Category Area Focus

It's been a hot topic for years, but the news is in. Western Province Rugby will call Green Point Stadium home as of February 2021.

According to TimesLive, the deal with the City of Cape Town, which owns the 60,000-seat stadium built for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, will make the WP Rugby the anchor tenant for up to 99 years. There are also plans to build more suites as part of the agreement.

With Green Point poised to be the hub of sport in Cape Town and a global attraction in 2021, now is the perfect time to invest in an Airbnb property in and around Green Point and Mouille Point.

Indeed, it is no secret that 2020 is a buyer's market, and with an unusual number of properties to choose from, this could be the perfect opportunity to buy.

Seeff Atlantic Seaboard area specialists, Tamar Cheerin and Talya Codron agree.

"There are some amazing properties on the market that are already set up for Airbnb
usage," said Tamar. "Many have already been renovated beautifully, are very low
maintenance and perfect for catering to lock-up-and-go guests with minimal effort required,"
she added.

"With tourism set to pick up again early next year, we don't expect many of our
gems to remain on the market for long." Talya added, "Those who can, should act now and secure a
property in areas that will always be of high-value and popular with tourists."

Of course, the Cape Town Stadium isn't the only attraction that makes buying an investment property in Green Point or Sea Point a smart move. Along with hooking the sports fanatics, the superb seaside location, and proximity to the V&A Waterfront, the beautiful beaches, and the city life, make Green Point and Mouille point perpetually popular areas.

So, if all goes to plan, what sporting events can we look forward to next year? Aside from the famous Cape Town Cycle Tour in March 2021, we look forward to hosting to much-anticipated British and Irish Lions Tour. The Lions tour dates and information can be found here.
